I’m Casey McEnry and I’m the other half of Career Dreaming. I’m here to provide a different perspective on the world of sales than Rob since we know everyone doesn’t come from the same background. After working in software sales directly selling into the recruitment industry for the last couple years I have a pretty firm understanding of what employers are looking for and how you can make yourself stand out. Beyond that I love to meet new people, have conversations with people trying to get their foot in the door and overall just share my experiences in the hopes that it helps you out.
If you’re looking for traditional advice, I’m probably not your guy. I believe sales is at the core of almost every profession, and specifically for entrepreneurs. Whether your goal is to work for a Fortune 500 company with great benefits, a startup with options or work from a hammock in Central America like me (more on that later) I’ll be able to help you out.
Ok, so who the hell am I? Well long story short, I’m an entrepreneur by nature who spent a couple of years in a traditional software sales role.
Ready for the longer story?
I’m 26 years old, from the Pacific Northwest, have started five of my own companies, worked for four years as an Account Executive at LinkedIn and I’m currently traveling the world with my girlfriend while running my businesses.
While a Junior at Western Washington University I entered a new business incubator where I Co-founded a daily deals business for local universities. After getting a taste of the startup life I wanted the real thing so I moved to the Silicon Valley where I started in a Sales Development role at LinkedIn. Over the next four years I moved up to a small business Account Executive, then Mid-Market and finally Enterprise. Throughout my tenure there I worked exclusively on the Talent Solutions business line, which basically means I helped other companies recruit via LinkedIn.
In addition to LinkedIn I’ve built a saas company, co-founded an ecommerce consulting company and even started a design agency. I do all this while traveling the world as what some would call, a digital nomad.
There are pros and cons to every lifestyle choice and I’m here to cut through the shit with an unbiased opinion.
