Many of you reading this right now have a high level of interest in beginning a career in Software Sales, but, you either haven’t started the interview process or haven’t mastered it yet. That’s why I put together this training on “How to Prepare for a Software Sales Interview”.
I’ve had quite a bit of experience over the past four years interviewing with both large and small Software companies and I’ve learned that about 80% of your success comes from the preparation you do up-front, and only 20% of the success is how you actually respond on the fly.
I’ve received job offers from Fortune 500 companies, VC-backed startups and everything in between. And every single time, I’ve used the same basic formula to ensure that I go into the job interview well prepared and ready to tackle the most difficult questions that they might throw at me.
I don’t say this to brag, I just say this to show that it’s a very repeatable process once you have a plan in place to prepare for a sales interview.
The more preparation you do prior to the interview, the easier the process of interviewing actually is. That’s an absolute fact.
Most people hate interviewing, they’re petrified of it. So any chance to make the experience easier and more relaxed, we should take that right?
That’s certainly my train of thought. Let’s take the time up-front to prepare for an interview, make it as “warm” of a conversation as possible and flip the interview script on it’s head by showing we really are prepared. How do you accomplish this you might ask? Well, here’s how.
Recently, I hosted a Virtual Class for the students of the Software Sales University, where I walked through my process for interview preparation prior to an interview. While this level of training is typically only available for the students of the Software Sales University, I thought this was too valuable to hold back.
If you found this training helpful and want more similar, in-depth information, as well as bi-monthly Virtual Classes such as this, I highly recommend you check out the Software Sales University for similar training.
The steps that you must master in this type of sales interview preparation include:
Researching the company:
Researching your interviewer(s):
Selling your experience:
Closing the deal:
Make sure to watch the Virtual Class in it’s entirety so that you have a full understanding of exactly how you can properly prepare for a sales interview and nail the four steps listed above.
As always, reach out to me with any questions you might have in the comments section below or via email. Thanks for your time and I hope you found this Virtual Class to be helpful in your interview preparation!
